We had beautiful, sunny, weather on our hike today. It took us a lot longer to get to the trailhead because there were many annoying, slow drivers on the Cades Cove Scenic Loop. Once we got passed the frustration and began the hike, our experience only went up hill…literally :)
The five mile round trip was not too strenuous. The sign says 3-4 hours but by kicking it into gear you can easily make it a two hour trip!
Thankfully, the trail always seemed to level out as soon as we began to feel the burn! After the storms yesterday, the trail was extremely muddy. Make sure to wear old shoes (unlike Chase who wore brand new, shiny white, tennis shoes!) if you hike this trail after any rain.
You never have to worry about getting your feet wet because there are always log bridges to help you across streams…unless you decide to accidentally slip into freezing cold water, but Chase wouldn't recommend this!
Sorry to spoil the ending…but here is a preview of the falls!
P.S. Try not to be the reason they have to make a new sign ;)
Hey sweetie, I found out last night at Jeff's birthday party that you and Chase started a blog. That is great as I really like reading Jen's and I love being able to see some of the stuff you are enjoying in East TN. I miss you bunches...Love, DAD
